I inherited a Cub Cadet self propelled mower that has a 6.25 horsepower. It has the caster wheels up front and works great except it is a pushmower at this point! Any info on this would be great so that I could get it repaired.
I'm guessing it has gears in the rear, under the mower like my Toro self propelled. It was free and the caster wheels work great...although I have heard many commercial lawn companies say they break easily....not sure why they even own one.

Thanks for any advice, hints, etc.

Check the belt and the belt engagement lever adjustment.

if the belt is tight and enguages properly then you might have a problem with the wheels. Pick the rear of the mower up and see if the drive wheels will spin freely. If they will then that is your problem because the power from the axle is not being transmitted to the wheels because the wheels will just spin on the axle. They are supposed to spin with the axle. If they will spin with the axle as they should then the transmission is probibly shot. A new one is around $200 so you will be better off just making a push mower out og it or finding a junked one that you can get a trans. off of.
