My EB630 blower has a lot of oil buildup on the gas tank. I took the rope pull mechanism off and noticed that there was some oil in there also. Is is likely leaking at the crankshaft seal? If yes, how do I change it? Is this a common problem. (3 yrs old)

Thanks for any help.

It probobly is leaking from the crankshaft seal. We have an FS 85 Stihl that leaks from the front seal and it leaks so bad it can't be used because it blows oil all over you pants. The seal would be pretty hard to replace. If its not leaking very bad then I wouldn't worry about it but if you want to replace it just take it to the dealer.

What ratio are you mixing you fuel/oil ? It sounds like you are over oiling, or running an extremely rich carb. mixture.

that seal is going to take quite a bit of effort, try putting some instant gasket on the starter rope case's edges if you want it sealed. might not be a good idea though as it would eventually soak the rope..
