View Full Version : Should I Buy This Truck????

Wanted to get some opinions from you ford diesel owners. (or others)
You can look at my post from a couple of weeks ago....I was going to buy a new truck, but got pissed off at the dealer and walked out. I can not stand those bastards.
Now looking at this used truck from a private seller.
2001 Ford F350 XLT 4x4 crewcab 8' bed
extended warr. to 100,000 miles
only towed a boat w/ it to get to his beach house
Is this a good deal? what should i be looking for buying a used diesel? any other comments or suggestions appreciated.

Try some of the diesel forums for Fords, those forums are loaded with people who really know all aspects of the trucks. I think one of them is dieselstop.com.

sounds like a fair enough deal... did you get a chance to drive it yet? look at the oil real good..
if everything with it seems in order (also check the 4wd) i would have to say buy it.. i have a friend with same year model f250SuperDuty and "we" love it..

I just bought a 2001 F250, XLT Supercab, gas, 8' bed, 66,000 miles for $17,000. The diesel adds as does the 350 size. Still sounds too high to me.

being 4x4 adds to the cost as well..
i guess along with everything else, you have to factor in location.. i couldnt find a decent used '70's model Ford here for less than 1500 that was in good restorable shape.. i had to go out of state...so it will cost me about the same money in end, by the time i go and get it and all.. but the truck i found was in much better shape than anything i found around here.. and i've been looking steady for almost a year...
if anyone wants to sell a presentable 70's model ford and get good money for it, bring it Shreveport Louisiana...

I'd have to say its a bit high but not too far off. I just bought a used 04 f350 diesel crew cab long box 4x4 on saturday for 34000, it only has 10000 miles on it... lady traded it in because it was too big... ha. And I must say that I absolulty love it, and I would never have dreamed I would own a ford some day.
