Curious to see what you would price this out at. The job takes 27 man hours, i've done it before. Prune, edge, mulch. The beds take 17 yds. dark hardwood mulch. The kicker is one large bed that has to be mulched that is at the top of a pretty steep hill that takes approx. 6 of those yards. Curious to see what you would bid it at.

1139 plus pruning charges. You made no reference to how much trimming was necessary.

The landscape is pretty heavily planted, but a newer landscape. Not too much pruning, not a whole lot of pitchforking of mulch.

about how many linear feet of edging? I assume the bed edges only need "refreshed" as opposed to cutting in new ones? about how many shrubs to prune? (rough estimate will do)

Normally I would just charge the 65.00 per yard installed, for the mulch.
However with the hill I would also add in the hourly rate for moving the mulch.
The edging I charge 1.50 per ft.for an edge that has not been kept up and .75 for one that has. In this case if you are skimming the bed and edging
by hand, that will create alot of debris to move down the hill. Therefore I would add the hourly rate on top of the edging cost.

Without identifying the pruning, cost can not be calculated

Hauling rates should be considered for the edging and pruning.

Good Luck !

2900.00 plus whatever the edging would be @ .52 lft, give or take(depending on terrain and if the edge is well established, if new edging, it would be around 1.00 lft). And i would also add in 200.00 to cover extra hauling of mulch to the hilltop bed to cover rental of a georgia buggy or something similar. No way we're moving 6 yds up a hill in wheelbarrows on an installed price product. So around 3100.00 +/-

It's interesting to see the variance in prices. The job for us was around 1500, but I think i'll raise it in the spring. There is a good amount of edging. There is a wooded lot on site so you can dump there. Also a good amount of shrubs, maybe 75.

As long as you made a good profit off of that job, that's all that matters. Pricing is so widely varied across the country, hell ,even across towns for that matters. But just between you and me, give yourself a raise next season, and raise those rates some  :waving:

Impactlandscaping;

i see that you are from Morgantown. What's the market for landscaping like there? Nice houses for the professors? Do you do any work in D.C.

Hey..It's a great market here because there is so much new building going on continuously...new apt. complexes, strip malls, gov't seeding jobs, NASA, FBI. etc..We have set our business apart from many others by offering full service to all our clients, and are rapidly gaining more mowing / maint clients as well. No work in DC, too far to travel, but we are going to do some more work in the Deep Creek Maryland area in the spring. It's even crazier there than it is here. Most new places we are bidding on are in the 700-1M price range. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of legit LCOs here and many more that aren't.. I'd rather work for the everyday working people, who value our service and the effort they made to earn that 4K for an install, than work for the phony rich, and there are a lot of them around here..

I've been to houses a few times this year where the customer has divulged who (lawnsite members) has been there before me. Based on what they preach on here I bid high thinking they do as they preach and have nearly choked on my pen when they tell me some crazy low price the very same guy has quoted. All is not what it seems.

at least 2k and thats with a guess of how many linear feet of edging and if you will use a machine for the edging where you can brush the pulverized soil back into the beds instead of having to pickup, load and haul away allot of turf edges. 75 shrubs is allot of trimming and cleanup. Depending on how steep the bank is where the 6 yards go, there might be an additional fee if its too tough to push barrows up it. 2k might be on the low end without seeing it and not know the edging footage.

and yes there are some, but not all, guys here who might say what their estimate would be but in fact charge a lower price in the "real" world verus here in the "virtual" world but I;ve always found here that the majority of people will give you their best guesstiamte with the info that is provided.

I do think 1500 is a little on the low side...just my opinion however
