I havent been mowed lawns in a couple of years because I have been in school. When I was back up North I was getting around $40hr to mow lawns with my deck mower.

I was curious what the average rate for everyone is? thanks for the info.SY

the typical rule of thumb is a dollar/minute/man. so theioretically, if your a one man opperation you should be shooting for around $60.00/hour. I tend to get a little under because I am younger and havent quite worked my rates up to where they should be, but next season they will.

i usually make around $60. I got smaller lawns that take only about twenty minutes with two mowers running

One way is to use the $1/minute as mentioned. Not too sure if that is always correct though depending on the property. We have jobs that we get $3/minute (go figure).

I'm with Paul and think hourly is more appropriate. How much that is you can only answer. Figure out what your hourly expense base is and then go from there. IMO your hourly rate should be at least double of your expense base.

So what about this question = What do you charger per hour for 2 men (counting Yourself) and using one zero turn, trimmer, edger and blower?

but southern yankee may have meant somthing like what is your "target" price you like to make for an hour.

I interpreted this question to mean: "if I priced mowing a job by the hour, what would the fee for an hours mowing be?".

and that is why I said I priced by the job, not the hour. :)

and john--I do lots of things besides the baton.......... LOL!

90 Per. Thats 22.50 Per 15 minutes. So a Quarter acre is 30 Dollars and they(in that area) take 15 Minutes. so you can make 7.50 more then your rate or you have room to dicker(take the whole street :) ).
John

Oh what i mean by equipment is loaders,ground saws and so on.

I try to get $2 per min solo, from leaving the truck to getting back in after the job is done. I average $80 PER hour on the day as an average- From leaving the house to getting back. Joel

I would like to honestly say I get $50.00 per man hour on mowing.....but I don't. My best accounts are in at $42.50 pmh. My cheapest account is around $28.00 pmh. This dosen't include drive time. I don't care how new of equipment you have, how big your advertising is, how good of work you do or how good you can sell your service....people ain't gonna pay top dollar for mowing in my area. Weekend warriors have beat the business down to nothing.

Thats the fact.............................sherrill

Worst = high 20's
Best = $1 per min.
Ave. = about $35
Best thing I got going is location. Most jobs are less than 3 miles from home. Most I put on my truck in a day is 13 miles. Got it first week in June and just turned 2000 miles.
