Some interesting statistics about LawnSite.com....

LawnSite ranks #1 overall in the lawn and landscape category on the internet based on traffic to the site, number of unique users on the site, amount of time spent by the users on the site, the number of links other sites have that lead to LawnSite.com, and the site's availability in regard to the many different search engines.

LawnSite.com is one of the largest commercial industry sites in regard to a forum with number of members registered at the site and the number of users that visit the site (but never register).

Aside from companies who market to homeowners (John Deere, Sears, Home Depot, TruGreen, etc...) LawnSite.com reaches more of its target audience members on a daily basis than any other green industry site on the internet - not just forum sites, but all green industry related sites.

LawnSite has had almost 1 3/4% of its users on line at one time several different times (almost 400 users with over 24,000 registered) which is an extremely high number for a commercial related forum. There are other sites that claim statistically they have had "X" number of members on the site at one time, but they are allowing their stat trackers to include "bots" that monitor sites for the search engines - not a real indication of actual people.

(This is one of my favorites)....LawnSite.com is the 29,112 most popular web site on the entire internet - the entire internet!

LawnSite.com has "trust-ranking" of 10 out of a possible 10, which means in regard to problems reported about the site, complaints, etc...

In February 2003 LawnSite had 7,890 members (give or take, I forget exact number), and today less than 2 years later has almost 25,000 members - one of the top 5 fastest "growth spurts" amongst commercial forums.

And here is the last one....which I am not sure about because it was emailed to me as an extra note with some simplified math attached....supposedly there is more content at LawnSite.com than an entire set of Encyclopedias.... crazy, huh?

All of these cool stats are possible becasue of our members. We have to be one of, if not the coolest online community there is! I want to personally thank the members for finding, using, and coming back to LawnSite again and again. Your involvement is helping better this industry one business owner at a time!

There appear to be many viewers each day just viewing and leaving like myself.

The majority of the postings and questions come from a minority. I find threads that are interesting but ultimately find out that info or advice is coming from a part time LCO or school aged or a one man outfit.

My partner and I have grown over 300K this year with 6 weeks left and are booked out 2 weeks. We should hit 7 figures with good weather and are dealing with the rapid growth blues...cash flow, experienced crews, pricing startegies, should we buy that 100k+ piece of equipment.

At the risk of being flamed, grumbling over getting $25 or $30 a cut, agonizing over mulching or bagging leaves, and not letting your customers walk over you, don't lend themselves to improving an existing business like ours.

We keep 15 families employed, both latino and anglo, and information on how to enhance our business is critical. Could there be a forum or sub forum on mid size companies and problems we incur on a regular basis.
Thank you

TCLAWN,

i dont think this is a fair question. He probably comes to check out if we talk about something that can be useful to him once in awhile. Unfortunatelly, he always leaves dissapointed.

I also feel that this site is geared more toward the small to medium size company. This is great for me, but i can see how it would not suit TREEDOC.

Long way from back when I joined. Good job, even though I haven't been posting much lately I'm still checking in.......

There have been times when we (myself and the moderators) have had to make decisions that made it appear that we were protecting our sponsors. And to a certain degree, it was true. We will defend our sponsors when necessary - an arbitrary attack, dealers acting like LCO's claiming that one or two lines (their one or two lines) are superior to all others.

But I have always made it clear that it is the members who make this site. it is the members who elect to find the site, register, start discussions, enhance discussions, and create new ways of thinking. I am always open to starting a new forum if I think it will help the community as a whole. We are actually working on a few forums that help break the site down without drawing from the opportunity that a newbie may learn a lot from an experienced veteran.

Crazy? Maybe. I believe it though. I've gathered a ton of knowledge from this site since Jan 04 -- I learned a lot here in less than a year from real basic stuff to some of the more confusing aspects of true lawn care. I'm VERY grateful to have found this site last winter before my first season of lawn maintenance.

So, thank you, Sean, and all the contributing members!

Sean,Chuck and Mod's congrats to you all and keep up the good work.

My only gripe is that I did not find LS sooner but, I'm still learning a ton of new things everyday.

John, the only one that would be in that forum would be YOU!
The rest of us are earning a living!
Besides, how many times can we all look at the same old semi retired, part time lawnboy who has got one foot on a banana peel and the other on the red carpet in the church isle?
C'mon man, give us a break!
Or at least invite us to join you in that 104 degree soothing spa of youth you keep showing us pics of...............

What makes this forum so special is that it doesn't take the same 20 people to keep the forum moving along. There are SO many posting members here that the diversity is so great. It never gets boring, because anyone can come here and hear a wide range of opinions. That's one of the many reasons this forum is number 1. I also know first hand how much time, concern, and effort Sean puts into this site, and I appreaciate it.

WHO are the companys that gather the stats on this site again??

Sean Adams
11-24-2004, 03:04 PM
We have several companies that charge a small fee to track stats and others that do so at no charge...our server also tracks information for us as well. I'd prefer not to nmae them on the public forum but am willing to email them to you if you are really that concerned.
