View Full Version : New springs on truck today.

Today I got one leaf added to my F150 so when the other truck is in use or breaks down I can use it to pull the trailer. Let me tell you it works awesome I can't believe how one spring makes a difference. Set me back $300 for all the parts and labor. Definetly worth it if I have to use this truck this year.

any pics? Did you do it youself or take it to the shop?

I took it to the shop. The trailer used to drop the whole truck anout 4 to 6 inches. Now it setttles down about half an inch. The ride didn't even change at all. If your not using a 3/4 ton or bigger you need to add a leaf. Sorry no pics yet!

I second the above....add-a-leaf is required equipment on light trucks doing heavy work.
You still have puny brakes and wheels, but you are still way better off.
My old 1989 2500 Suburban had 2 leafs in the front, bought a JC whitney 3 leaf unit, then added a leaf to that. Total now 4. It rode miserably for the first couple months, but the springs "settled in" and now are just fine with or without the plow on the front.
