I was wondering if any one would like to take part in designing a home made stripe kit that every one can build.

I have a TTHP and I'd like to design a kit to go between the wheels under the engine deck where Exmark has a thin rubber flap. I would love ideas but they would obviously have to take into consideration that not everyone here can weld or has access to specialty shops/tools.

I'd like all parts to be easily found at local hardware stores so any one can make this.

Stripe kits are a very common question here and I'd like to see if i can help. I remember a few months ago helping someone out with ideas but that was more of an ok this is my kit lets make it work thread LoL. i want to start from the ground up.
I don't mind drilling holes in my mower or buying hardware supplies for trail and error tests. In the end I'd like to have a detailed step by step list with pics following the assembly. I have a good digi cam also. I'm not into making this commercially or anything. I'm into helping others.

Let me know if you guys think this is a good idea or if I should just give up.
I get border in the winter when it doesn't snow.... I think winter project threads would be fun. We can all come together with ideas. I can take a pic of the underside engine deck for those that aren't familiar with the Exmark.

The Proslide stripes really nice the thing I dont like about it is that it creates a lot of drag on the motor.

What about creating a sulky that uses two rollers that are the length of the sulky.. Your weight standing on this sulky would create plenty of downward force and the 2 rollers would create a damn nice strip..

I need to be cut in on the profits before I sign over this idea... :)

I like Pro-slides idea but I'm trying to design something that others can build for a lot less and custom tailor it to their mower.

I thought of designing something fitted to the Velke that way it would be behind the drive wheels but I think it would leave too big of a border. In other words when your at the end of the lawn and need to turn around, the mower will be face the opposite direction while your still turning leaving a bigger U shape at the end of your stripes making you go back to give it a border. I guess I could look down at the Velke while turning to see what it looks like.

It would be cool making a Velke bolt on stripe kit tho. Any one have opinions on this and ideas to make it work? Unfortunately i have the single wheel Velke.

150 views and only three replies.. Guess not many are interested. I'll just start and post pics of my progress. I've already made a simple chain kit for my ferris but I want to do something different and less noticeable.

I've used McMaster before for other things but I'm trying to design this with parts from local hardware stores. This way is something breaks or doesn't fit it can be easily exchanged or returned. After the kit is designed we can look for parts online to make it even more cost effective. In the design faze we need to be able to get the parts fast and return/exchange with out having to pay shipping, etc.
