The 36" Scag Hydro is iron clad. I don't think any other unit will outdo this unit on reliability. We don't do any fun stuff like stripping or double blade with our unit so don't know about that aspect. We have mulch plate over outlet and do 100% that way. The hydro unit actuating is easy on the hands and has good safety features. The unit does weigh a lot. We have two Snapper Hydro units that are good but we will add another Scag next year.

the scag advantage deck is about the best deck money can buy. I got a 36 with the kaw 15 hp. It can cut through anything you can put in its way.

I have a hydro 36 also and love it. I have helped a guy out on a big property and he has a belt drive. On this particular property he could do it in 25% less time if he had a hydro. Love mine, if you got the extra $$$ go get it.
