what brand of mower is the best 21" mulching mower for those small yards, that a 36" just wouldn't be worth getting of the trailer, but want to maintain a good quality cut. I've heard Toro alot, but think there has to be something better.

The Deere's were good cut into very fine pieces even bagging. Used to come with a plastic mulch plug but even with out it they would mulch well.

Buy a John Deere JC63c mulches, bags, and cut excellent!!! 6.75 Hp Briggs, remote lockable caster wheels, and starts on the 1st pull! Cost me $616 for the bagger, mower, and tax.

Honda has a New Commercial Unit that is Lighter and Should Mulch Better than their Old Boat Anchor HRC's !

Proline 21' Suzuki. Hands down the best overall of any I ever had. My guys won't even consider using anything else. When I had a new Cub RB100 everyone always fought over who had to use that thing and now its history and has been replaced by a new proline. Just our opinions..

I have 3 honda HRB 216 TDA's they are tough as nails run forever and mulch like a champ. They also come with a bag.
They use 2 thin blades that require more sharpening and I usually replace them every year. Also one thing to remember, they are overhead valve and they have a valve cover out in front. If the valve cover gets dinged hard (like from rolling loose on the trailer) the motor won't run till you fix it. Great mower though $625 at Home Depot this past spring. - Paul

I have a Honda HRX w/ versamow. I love everything about that mower. Mulches very well. I have used toro's and several other 21" mowers and the HRX stands above them all. I haven't had to even think about cleaning out under the deck because the Xenoy doesn't collect any grass.

You were told the truth about Toro Proline with the ATOMIC BLADE. I cut knee high weeds for about a hour today with mine and it was fun! That atomic blade just shreds everything. I would look at the mulching blade as much as the mower if I was going to look at different brands of mower.

I love my honda hrc 216 with mods (thanks dishboy) it mulches just as good as my toro proline.

if you already have a 36" it's probably not going to be a good Idea to drop $1000 on a commercial mower. why don't you take a look at the toro super recycler? it mulches just as well as the proline and honda and is much lighter so it doesn't rut so bad in the rain.
only complaint is that the engine doesn't have as much torque as I would like but for once a week or every other week lawns it should do just fine.

Has anybody actually seen or used this mower yet. My dealer says he won't see any until the remaining stock of old style HRC216's are sold, although he said I could try to special order one.

Toro....I am very happy with mine and the price is not near as high as the Honda's.

Get the personal pace......makes mowing very easy.

Personal Pace...HRX...All JD 21's are Homeowner Units....does JD still make a Commmercial 21" ?!?

If you Buy Toro....Buy the Prolines...Much Tougher than Personal Pace.

The JD is made as tough as the commercial other brands. You can still buy the 21" I bought mine this year.

the only reason I recomended the personal pace was that I was under the impression that he already had a 36" and just needed a trim mower for the areas that the 36" wouldn't fit into. because he already has a 36 than the 21 will only see VERY limeted use. it does not make sense to blow a $1,000 dollars on a mower that you use 3 times a week.

If I am wrong about the 36" accept my apology.

Sorry, should have made myself a little clearer. I do not have a 36". I do have a 52" Super Z. Had a 36" brand new 2 years ago, snapper, belt drive problems after about 20 hours returned it. So I have been leary since. Most of my customers I think like the look of the 21" stripe better. Some yards aren't big enough to use 36". Most are 50'x80'-100' sq. ft. lots. Just looking for some help. Probably would use this mower quite abit, like 8-10 yards a day. Thanks, Jason

Now that the Suzuki/Prolines are Dead...the best of the Bunch is the Metro/Proline/6.5hp Kaw....or You could wait to Check out the New HRC Honda's.

There's a Simple Rule when it Comes to 21"s & All other Equipment...If you Can Buy it @ Home Depot..Then it's Crap.

It is just a little something to make the lawn look pretty. If you do a good job, then the lawn will end up looking like the picture that TCLawn has next to his name. The idea is that you make a nice pattern out of the grass. Some mowers have attachments that make the striping more prominent.

I have two 21" Honda's, but the HRC 216 has a higher deck and mulches better than the HRA 215.
