I am considering a price increase, and would like to know if anyone has an idea of where I might find a cost of living index for 2000, or where and when they might print such information. I sure that somewhere, someone is monoriting the cost of living increases each year. I also am considering an additional increase for fuel cost, since it doesn't seem like it is going to go down. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cost of living Index was approx. 3%. I am also increasing my
rates by 2% to cover gas price increases. So this year my rates are going up a minimum of 5% and many will go up at least 8-10% to help cover higher wages, equipment, etc.

Where did you find the information for a 3% increase last year? Is it published somewhere regularly?

You do better to figure what your own "cost of living index" is. The last administration changed the way its figured, so the things that matter to you and me most, like food, fuel, housing etc are now lower weighted in the index than say cars refrigerators, manufacturing tools, etc.

IMO you do better to raise prices say 10% and let it ride for a few years than nickel and dime people to death every year.

We raise our prices 10-15% every 2 years instead of every year and this accounts for gas increase, employee wages, etc. People are more comfortable with an every 2 yr increase rather than annual. Never had anyone complain about it whatsoever!
