Hello everyone! I am new to the site and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Steve, I am 31 and I have a commerical mowing business in Central Illinois.
My question to anyone listening is: I have the opportunity to buy a 2004 Emark 52 inch 23 hp Kolher engine with 1 hour on it for 7,008 dollars. Is this a good deal?
Thanks.
Steve

Sounds like a good deal. I live in Belleville (my neighbor just moved here from Springfield) and I have been getting quotes for around $7500 for 0 hours. This was 04 quotes from a couple of months ago. I will probably buy a 05 model and I think they told me price would go up about $200 for 05.

I am assuming that this is a demo unit from the dealer and a full warranty will come with the unit?

I would see what you need to pay to get a 2005? If the savings is huge it may be worth it.... I dont think there were any huge changes from 04....

I would check around to a few different shops...

Don't know about the mower price but I sell equipment to factories in their area and their factory people are not very easy to deal with!

SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE COUNTING YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE THE EGGS HAVE HATCHED to me!

I'd wait until you have a signed contract for those lots before spending $7k for a new mower.

How easy is it to hook up the Gator rator when you have the JRCO Bar mounted?

I have the Jrco speader as well and almost bought a Gator rator for 1100 on ebay brand new.... I didnt want to have to keep unmounted the bars though..

To answer your questions on Gator Rator & JRCO:

It USES A DIFFERENT BAR. The GR bar is part of the weight system to get deeper plugs. The bar itself weighs about 100 lbs. Compared to the JRCO bar it is MUCH heavier & MUCH more difficult to handle. It attaches with 8 bolts. However, you have to take off the footplate to attach it, then reattach foot plate over it. SOrt of a pain. Also, with the extra weight, you definitely don't want to leave the GR bar on any longer then you have to. I line up all my aerations and do them all at one time over a couple of days. Then when I'm done, the bar comes off.

$1100 would be a GREAT PRICE, since I paid FULL PRICE of around $2300. GR beats walking, but there are still some bugs that need to be worked out. I've gone thru 2 actuators (that actually lift the aerator head). They don't last very long. Bryant said he had a "bad batch". But looks like to me they are a bad match to this application. Also the "flap" that hangs across the back so plugs don't all pop up on your mower deck is poorly done. Mine made it thru 2 jobs before it ripped itself off from the machine. I talked to Bryant about it. They used a metal flap first & that didn't work. Then they went to the rubber one like mine has, which apparently doesn't work any better. I don't know if they've solved that yet either.

It shows in your signature that you already own that mower. How much did you pay for that one?

I see that this question was already ask. Sorry, didn't read the second page.

I also agree that that price sounds reasonable. With 1 hour on it the machine is still new and that price is a lot less than the regular sale price.

I know where you can get a 21hp 52"Sapper For $6399.00 You can even get a 61"25HP Snapper for $6999. All brand new with full 2 year commercial warranty.Toro offers a 19hp 52" Toro for $5,699 with a 3 year limited warranty.
Both offer a 0% 0$ down for 12 months or 3.9% for 36 months.
I would take a strong look at the Snapper. They have really improved their product and are pricing it right. Good Luck.
