This truck is for sale. I can't get a handle on whether it's a good price because everything I compare it to is Diesel.

what model of truck is it? what kind of bed? dually or single rear wheel? which transmission, is it automatic or stick? and I'd like to know why a 3-4 year old truck with only 45k miles on it has already had the transmission replaced???? someone beatin the snot out of it with a plow on or what? if so, find out how long ago the tranny was replaced.. obviously either it was a lemon tranny or someone abused it, in which case it was likely partly due to abuse while plowing, so you should hope it was replaced very recently so less likely to have alot of abuse on it yet. After reading it more, I see it is a dump bed. Is this a F350? regular cab or ext or crew? give us more details. also what options, trim package, etc. it all makes a difference. But it doesn't sound like a bad deal around here anyway.
good luck,
Eric

Sounds kind of fishy to me. So few miles and a new tranny, somthing aint right. I would investgate a little further.

Some V10's around 2001 had breathing problems. They would stall at idle, etc. Sounds like a decent deal but I would also question why the tranny went. Perhaps he didn't know how to plow? perhaps the miles are false?

I agree, the transmission should not have went out at 45,000. investigate that a little further. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me if it really is a good truck.

A little off topic. But what about a 2002 F-250 XLT 4x4 Ext Cab Short bed, 46k miles, fully loaded execpt no leather. No plow prep or trailer package. V8. Its from the dealer and they are asking $22,000.... I personally think its to much, and dont want a used truck anyway. But is this even a close to decent deal?

Im sure you can talk the sales guy down to $20,000.

What do you think?

OH and its in excellent shape, no straches or dings. and its an auto

Premier - Short boxes are worthless, you buy a truck that big to be able to haul nothing in the back of it. But, that truck doesn't sound too out of wack as far as price goes, but personally I wouldn't buy a short box.

I aggree bro. Thats why im not buying it. Just wondering what you guys think. Plus.... I dont want a used car. I had bad luck with used stuff, and dont ever want anything used again unless its a house, and even then I'd be weary, lol! :)

Shouldn't that tell you something? Diesels are worth every penny and then some. A fricken' V-10. Can you say ridiculous fuel bills. Aside from less torque, which is what you need for towing. Never own gas again for us.

If the trans is a E40D or the newer equal trans forget what its called they had alot of problems. My E40D went out at 70,000 miles. Heard of some going out at 40-50K also. Go diesel :D
