I wanted to be able to fine tune deck height positions on my Hustler Z. Until now I could only adjust the height in 1/4 inch or greater adjustments. So I bought a an extra pin for setting the deck height and welded a piece of 1/8 inch steel plate to one side. The other side has the 1/4 steel plate still attached. Now I can adjust the deck height in 1/8 inch increments if necessary. I still have to use 2 pins in case I want to to set the height at 1/2 inch increments but 2 pins are better than one. I going to weld another piece of 1/8 steel plate to the 1/4 inch side of the pin and this will allow adjustments of 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 by using one of the 2 pins.

why would you want to adjust your cut height by 1/8 of an inch. I can hardly tell a difference at 1/2 inch when cutting fescue.

On St. Augustine you can tell a difference in small height adjustments. The trick justs allows for finer tuning of the equipment.

If im cutting 1/8" to low I will just add a little air to the tires problem solved

Sounds like your equipment is antiquated. What do you do if it's 1/8" too tall?

When I was mowing yards in Florida in the mid-Eighties, I had a few St. Augustine/Floratam lawns. It really was amazing how easily you could see the difference in small height increments. Kinda like zoysia, only more so. Cut 'em too short and your engine starts to drag.

Hated the bermuda lawns the most, though...killed a fresh blade faster than anything I ever saw.
