View Full Version : Help with Sq Ft
02-07-2005, 01:26 AM
Ok i'm going to be laying some sod and I just need some help with these measurements. I know area is L x W. But im not positive when theres 3 sides. I came up with 584 Sq ft. The area just looks bigger than that. I know I should know this but I was always taught it's better to ask and be sure then to not ask and be wrong. In this case being wrong could cost me alot of money. Any help would be appriciated.

OK my image isn't coming out right but you get the idea. The sides are 73'. The top is 13'. And the bottom is 3'.

I agree with you, if this is a straight line on from 13' down to 3'. Your average width is 8'. 8*73=584'.

I come up with 584 square feet also. (3+13)/2X73 =584

when I look at it, it looks like a triange with an extra 3 ft by 73 ft strip. That would give you a square footage measurement of 584.
strip is 3 x 73 = 219
by taking out that strip, it leaves you with a triangle with sides that are 10 x 73.
divide triangle by half is 365
add to 219 and you get 584
we all get there, thats whats important
