2 questions.

How much would you guys pay for....

1.) A 6.5x16 ft trailer with brake on one axle, used tires and rims, ramp gate, and side gate?

2.) A 6.5x16 ft trailer with brake on one axle, used tires and rims, no ramp gate or side gate?

I was thinking $1800 for #1, and probably $1500 for #2?

How many of you would buy one of these, and which one? also, are these decent prices?

Thanks.

I might go with #2 if it were me..Its nice to have the side gate but unless you are going to use it a lot it may not be worth it.Also if you have a side gate is there still room for a weed eater rack if you want one.

1. $1650 with new tires.

A. Why would you buy a trailer with no gates for lawn care?

B. Why on earth would you buy a NEW trailer woth USED tires????!!!! that sounds crazy.

I've just been thinking something. I can get a bulk 4 pack of trailers without a ramp gate at a decent price, but I only need one, but its alot cheaper when you buy 4, so I was going to sell 3 and keep one and add a rear gate to it.

Or I could buy 4 ramp gates with side gates and sell 3.

Im just trying to see what most people on here would want. I figured the ramp gate, but some people might want it for other reasons, or useing it for a hobby they may have.

Oh, and because new tires and rims cost about $220 more per trailer.

So yeah, im just trying to get a feel for what you guys would rather buy. And If I did buy some of these if you'd guys pay $1800 for one. That way If I was to get them in a package deal, it'd be cheaper for us all. Just a matter of finding people in the market for a NEW trailer.

A couple of years ago there were several places around here with 6 1/2' x 16' double axel angle iron trailers with used tires for $700 before taxes. I have not priced them recently, but steele prices have gone up quite a lot since then.

I could have bought your #1 with new tires for $1800 here. Instead I bought a used car trailer 6.5X16 with brakes on one axle, good used tires, added 14" high rails all around, full width ramp gate on the rear, 52" side gate on the right front, new lights and wiring, paint all for $800. Still needs floor which will be about $200.

Can you get trailers that are other sizes than 6.5x 16? Like something that would fit between an 8 foot gate?

Mark, how big of a trailer are you looking for? I have a 7x18 car trailer 16' + 2' dovetail, full diamond plate deck, brakes on both axles as required by Michigan law, break away, new tires and mag wheels for 1300.00 only used it a few times to haul my race car.

You can get them basic 16 ft landscape trailers with brakes and only a rear ramp new for 1200.00 at Antique auto in Monroe.

John,
Does yours have a gate? Is their plenty of tread left? Is it open?

Also, my neighbor down the street who owns Tom Stanton and Son's, was telling me about antique.... I wanted to call them, But I couldnt find their number (didnt know the city). Is this it?

Metro,
are you still looking at selling your enclosed trailer? I could be selling my truck soon and I was just wondering if you are still looking at selling. Unless you want to do the trade! Please let me know a price as soon as you can!

My brother decided we should keep it for the paver crew.

Mark, It is a regular open car trailer. It has pull out ramps, but could have a ramp put on it. tires are still like new.

Mark
I was quoted $1300. + tax from Antique for 6.5x16 tandem, wrapped tongue, rear gate, 1 brake axle w/ used tires/rims. I found a guy here in the Flint area that sells trailers that quoted me $1650. (dont know if he collected tax or I would pay at sec. state.) for : tandem axle,1 brake, rear gate, side gate your choice of width, wrapped tongue, & new tires/rims. Both these trailers are built w/ angle iron. I have found a dealer in Fenton that has 16ft., 82 inches in width, wrapped tongue,tandem,1 brake, gate, built from square tube for $1700 + tax.
Hope this helps to see if it is worth investing in a few trailers to resell. I know I can get the same trailer from Antique for about $980. if I wanted to drive about 12 or 13 hrs. I just don't know if I really like the trailer from Antique, my buddy has a 14 ftr. that he has had to reweld the back upright where it meets the top rail. Maybe he was just unlucky w/ the trailer he got? I know he drives up kind of quick to which doesnt help. Otherwise it seems ok.
I personally would want a wrapped tongue, gate, and 1 brake axle.
Any other opinions on trailers built from angle iron or square tube?
Chris
