I need a 25-50 gallon electric pull-behind sprayer with a boom to spray a pasture for weeds and to also fertilize. There is a Tractor Supply that carries Fimco sprayers, but they didn't look too great. They were stored outside and the hardware was already starting to rust.
Any recommendations on a good sprayer and the best place to get one.
Thanks.

It looks like Demco is a little hard to get in Florida. There is only one dealer and it's far. Any other sprayers?

I doubt you'll like the fert capabilities of most of the small electric sprayers. The pumps/nozzles just don't have enough flow capacity to apply liquid fert with the proper volume of water. Weed control can be done at much lower water rates and pretty much all of those units will be fine for that ( http://www.northerntool.com ) You're not going to mimick a farm unit with a 10 gallon per minute and up pump on small booms wiht an electric unit. Throw your fert in granular form, use the sprayer for the weed and insect.

Don't over look Tractor Supply. They have a unit that covers 80 ft wide for putting on a ATV. I believe it is around $ 300.00

To tell you the truth I really don't know what I need. I guess I better read up on what flow rates I need before I make a decision.
There are animals on the property so I can't use granules. I don't think it will get a lot of fertilizing use since Bahia does not require much if any. It will be used mostly for insect and weed control.

Many many many years ago I was a sub contractor for 5 Star and traveled with them one season before jointing Ringing Bros. I am sure you know what I am talking about even if the others don't. I remember Davie "When".
But the bottom line is you might want to rotate pastures to keep those prize animals from getting contaminated. The two biggest insect problem are Fire Ants and Mole Cricket, both can be best controlled with granular baits. Weed control is best done by spray. I believe weed control is the real worry when it comes to contaminating the horses.
For those of you reading. Davie is a unique little horse community in the middle of the of the Greater Ft Liquiordale expansion.

Davie has really changed. Although at one time it was considered horse country, it has become more and more difficult to find a place with horses on it. It should now be called million-dollar-acre-homesite country. I actually have lawn service in Davie but own acreage in Hernando County which is north of Tampa and south of Ocala. That is where I will be using the sprayer.
I have a 300lb tractor seeder which could be used for fertlizer and insect control, so I guess I just need a sprayer for weed control. Will the flow rates on an electric unit be alright for spraying weeds?

Hernando county we may be talking a difference thing because of Soil make up. The bottom line is the pH of the soil. Is this land far enough east to be in the green belt? I will assume so because it is Coastal S.W. Fla. with the Calcareous Sand Problem.
Your biggest problem in doing pastures is tank-age, not volume of flow. Most of the 12V sprayers are designed to put out a Gallon per thousand and that is the best flow rate for Herbicides. Most 12V sprayer are generally no bigger than 25 gallon tanks. You will need to tank up twice for each acre. My First sprayer was a 100 gallon and a 50 gallon set up that used the same 12V pumps and hose reel. It was a used Homemade that worked very well.
Calibration is going to be another problem for you to over come. Selective Herbicides are designed to kill undesirables and not the turf. However there is a fine line where they will either suppress or Control the desired Turf. Therefore you must be sure you are putting down just the right amount.
The product you use for Weed Control also plays a big factor here.
Your question and Knowledge base tells me you are not a certified operator. so I will try and help you the best I can since we are talking about Agi land.
I think I need to ask you a few question also about all of this also. I feel I might be able to help you, however typing back and forward is a lot of trouble compared to a quick phone call. My number is 941-639-ANTS (2687). My cell phone is free Long Distance and I can return your call if it cost you.
