Ants and termite control

I have a customer that has an above ground pool. Recently he had the liner
inspected to find that it had alot of pinholes in it caused by ants and termites.
Can anybody suggest a pesticide to put down before he replaces the new liner

Hire a Professional Termite Company.

Your out of you league with termites. Termite insurance is the highest in the pest control industry. WHY? Because there are more law suits and insurance claims over termite mis-treatments than an other industry. The EPA is all over the Termite applicators. The State inspectors also follow termite very closely.

If you get caught doing Termite Soil Poisoning with out the proper licenses, they will throw the key away.

BTW Boric acid will not last in the soil, it leaches. To purchase Termidor, you must have applicators card issued by Bayer Labs. Yes there are many other termiticides that you can purchase. However I will not tell you what they are. BTW I gave up my Termite License because it was TOOOO much hassle.

Hire a professional. I am a licensed operator in Dayton, Ohio and I would bait only because of the pool.

One colony of termites are usually 8-20 ft down and can be an acre in size with #s of termites 250,000 to a million termites per colony.

8-10 colonies per acre of ground.

Weed Idiot

Two Certified Termite Pesticide Operator Told the man he is in over his head. But you come back and try and tell him where to buy product he has no business having.

Now the last straw that killed Chlordane was, an Idiot in New York who sprayed it in an Attic to try and kill Dry Wood Termites. Of Course the EPA made them tear down the house and send it to a decontamination dump. We lose Two many Chemicals each year already. Mis-information is the last thing we need on this or any internet site. This is a Lawn Care Forum, NOT a Termite, Pest Control Forum.

Good information. You may not use Termidor even if you do buy it because you are not certified with BASF.

Unless you know what your doing I would stay out of this arena. It is a federal law violation to apply a Pesticide or a Termiticide without proper credentials.

Yes you can by Termidor on ebay, but sales are now being tracked by the EPA and I hope you dont get caught using it if it was stolen.

This also makes you liable.

Not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to educate you a little bit.

Dan I stand corrected. Yes BASF makes Termidor not Bayer. Great product if used in the proper way. I got out of Termite work when Pre-treats went down to $ 0.08 a Sq Ft. Low ballers were using this as a come on to sell upgrades to in wall systems (which fail in the first two years due to Florida's High Humidity) and Sentricon Systems. Of Course I am sure you can imagine what kind of Pre-Treat they are doing for $ 0.08 a Sq Ft.

Termidor is technically not an RUP. However Label Law does apply to all that use a pesticide whether they are home owners or commercial applicators. Termidor's label Requires that only those certified by BASF can apply that product. It is also BASF rule that only Those certified by them may purchase Termidor.
