I put out 17-17-17 fert today and was wondering if I should add any more fert to my lawn before March 15? My soil test recommended 1lb\1000sf of N, but I'll be applying crabgass preventer next month. Should I use a liquid for crabgrass and broadleaves or use a granular with some fert mixed in with it?
I live in the Piedmont of North Carolina.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How soon does the grass start growing where you are. If you dont start mowing by the 1st of march, you are probably wasting the fert to put it down this early.

And what type of grass do you have?

Depends on how the 17% N is derived. If it is quick release a good portion of the N will be gone in a month. In that case, pre-emergent in March could be applied in granular form with another round of fertilizer.
