What is the typical lawn application schedule for fertilizers that everyone is using?
I'm about to begin taking care of a few lawns and plan on using alfalfa pellets and soy bean meal as my main fertilizers. These are typical residential lawns with no real problems. I figure I'll switch back and forth between the two and apply at around 10-15#/1000 sq ft with about 4-5 apps throught out the year. Maybe rake some CGM into the beds early in the season. I don't want to purchase any prepackaged ferts due to their high cost and local unavailability.

Unavailability? You have a lesco dealer in Olathe. They carry organic ferts.

The price of Sustain is over $20 a bag in our area. That is why I use soybean meal at $7. As an experiment I have sold some of my customers on use of composite tea twice a year along with one application of Medina. The results are very good in my tests.
