I will be keeping my trailer in a gas station lot and need to find a way to secure the trailer from theft. Are there any ways to lock it such as wheel locks of some sort? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

yes, if you have spoked or mag wheels they sell the claw type locks that go thru. If not you can get the boot like they use in big cities for parking violations.

You could use a kryptonize thru two wheels.

I found this trailer security system and even though it is a bit pricey, it looks very high class and well worth it. Id rather spend 500 bucks for security then lose 10,000 dollars worth of equipment.

I used to keep my trailer at a local self storage and lock it up with a Hitch lock (http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDetails.asp?SourceArea=&SourcePage=SEARCHRESULTS&MfrCode=MLK&MfrPartNumber=377DAT&CategoryCode=3201). Are you keeping your equipment ouside too?

yes it will be outside for the time being. I am looking for an affordable storage facility but until then I have to count on the security. It will be cramped in a lot so it would be hard for a thieve to get to and it will have a tarp on it but it needs more.

There won't be equipment on the trailer, will there????

For a short time I used to park my empty trailer in a parking lot. I ran a fat chain through the spoked rim and around the trailer rail.
Not completely fool proof, but enough to make them want to look for an easier target usually.
Besides, this was a small, fairly inexpensive trailer anyway.

But NO way I'd leave ANY equipment on it and do this!

Mine sits out side my shop under a telephone pole which has a nice big light on it. I also know we get regular police patrols every night so that is comforting. But I have my doors to the trailer padlocked and then I have a lock that has a ball on it which goes in the hitch and a bar clamps down on top so it is locked on then for added security I have the hitch lever locked as well. it is similar to this one Lock (http://www.hidden-hitch.com/prod.asp?pc=378DAT)

i have a master hitch lock that goes in just like the ball and has the lock come over the top of the trailer.

i lock my wheels up inside the trailer with a big brass lock.
