Okay, I'm new, be nice.
Here's my offer to new customers.
Spring/Fall clean up ($100 to $150)(Blow out leaves,pull weeds,trash,limbs,hedges)
Mow
Trim
Blow
Edge (this will be extra)
Landscaping will be done as per job basis.
Will this be enough to be considered a real service?
NO sprinkler, NO fertilizer.
Thanks! :D

"A 'real' service?"
What is the question?

Hi jjvvdd,
If you are providing a service that your customers need then good! That is real.
Basic services:
Mow
Trim
Blow
Edge(included for us)
Other Services:
Spring / fall clean up
Debri removal(trash,limbs,lawn waste,etc.)
Hedge and shrub pruning/trimming
And landscaping on a "as needed basis"
Is that your list of services you are offering?
If so that sounds like enough to keep the "average" customer.
You listed a weed eater blower so I will assume that is what you use for clean ups. I would strongly recommend a large cc backpack blower for this. It will save you much time and effort on clean ups.

Yep, I was asking if those services sounded legite? I am wondering about offering aerating without fertilizing. Does this make sense?

I haven't saved enough for an aerator. Would renting one from bledsoe at 36.00 for two hours and 54.00 for the day be worth it or is their a cheap model that will get the job done for around 200 or 300 dollars?
Ideally, I think renting would be good if I could line up 3 or 4 jobs but I'm afraid starting with the add in the paper they will come sporadically if at all.

get one of the new Billy goats, they are much easier on the back than the ryan/bluebird models, Call anderson rental in Mission, good guys and they have both models.

Schedule the jobs accordingly. When they sign up, tell them the date is "X" and do it then when you have 4-5 or 6 in one day, rent and go nuts. In the next batch of people so the same. Tell them you are really busy and next "SCHEDULED DAY FOR AERATION" is "X" Most people will raise an eyebrow with, "scheduled date... " just my 2 cents.

depending on what you charge for aereating it can be costly
i did this last spring i got a few customers a head and rented one
when all said and done i only made 250 dollars after renting the aerator
but if you do it right when the fall came around i called my spring customers
and let them know that i was doing it for fall and then i also did my lawn mowing customers
i bought a Ryan lawn aire for 2,100 on my credit card
and paid it off in a month and a half it was worth it
some thing you could think about is also do power raking
with the aerating as a package deal
i have sold 5 of them so far at 175.00 each
based on a 10k foot or less yards
as i take phone calls i willl be very busy come march 1st
thats my start date
so if you plan things right you could afford a aerator
i just order a blue bird power rake
it was 1000.00 and i will pay for it in a week
then i have to get started on the wifes new kitchen
i promised her for letting me charge these items
i hope this will help
