My husband is coming up on the 50 hour mark & is ready to change the oil in the diesel chopper. Any suggestions on a good quality oil to use ???? The dealer doesnt say anything but just use any 10W30.
Mobil 1 10W30 has worked well for me so far

Edited by: TPC

I use Penzoil in my Yanmar diesel engine. I think any good oil will be fine.
----------
Eric@ELM
I use Mystik JT-8 SAE 10W-30 oil in my Chopper diesel. It is rated API Service
CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF/SH. It has a TBN rating of ten. Make sure whatever oil you use is recommended for diesel engines.
----------
Larry
Amsoil sells a couple of weights of diesel oil. I used the SAE 30 for years in my Kubota gas engine. It became difficult to locate so I switched everything to Mobil 1.

Amsoil! Look up dealer in the phone book or call 1-715-392-7101 for info and signup. The big bypass oil filter only cost around $20.00 when you by direct.
I have been using Amsoil for the last 7 years with no problem at all. I use their oil, gresse, oil filters, and 2-strok oil. Everything works great! They have the highest boiling point on their oil, which means it will not break down when the engine gets hot.

We prefer a 15W40 oil here.I like Castrol
RX Super.I don't know if that's available in
the US though.
Karl
Use any oil with the ratings that meet those needed from Yanmar.Do not use synthetic oil!,the yanmar diesel is extremely heavy duty and requires conventional oil until the engine is fully broken in,about 200-500hrs.Switching before final fit is acheived will prevent the engine from wearing in fully and does more harm than good.I love synthetics, but the engine will outlast this machine easy on cheap oil,so why waste money on synthetics-especially when it holds a lot.
----------
John D
