I use wheel bearing grease on the spindles and Marine grade on the casters and other grease points that get wet.

Local Scag dealer uses Pennzoil Premium Wheel Bearing 707L Red Grease
for everything, spindles, wheel bearings etc. see specs at: www.pennzoil.com/products/greases/prem_707_red.html
One grease sure does simplify things.

Since I grease the thing daily, I use regular grease (buy at Northern) thou synthetic prolongs life especially in dry-run situations (such as when you forget, which can and does happen). Me, I like maintenance and I rarely forget the grease so the cost of bearings is less than the cost of synthetic. :-)

I think Scag recommends EP2 high temp grease in the spindles.Have used regular grease for a couple of years in scag spindles never had a failure.
