View Full Version : Lifetime hours - Belt drive walkbehind

I have a 48" 15 hp Kawasaki Gravely Pro G walkbehind. I was wondering how many hours of use I might typically expect to get out of this machine before the engine and the rest of it is worn out. I perform all scheduled maintenance and in general take very good care of my equipment. What is you experience?

I'm guessing the engine should last at least 2000 hours with proper maintenance. If you keep a greese gun on it, most other components, should last a while, but the engine may outlast spindals, and possibly transmission.

The sky is the limit. I overmaintain things. I expect them to go practically forever. There are many old w/b mowers out there running with a rediculous amount of hours on them. When a motor or something on them goes, its pretty cheap to replace and keep on going.

Thanks for your replies. How long should the spindles and Peerless transmission be expected to last (on average)? Thanks.

a guy i work for has a 10 year old exmark 36" belt w/ a 13 kawi and he just replaced the engine this year. There was no hr meter on it but we guessed around 3000-4000 hrs. We do around 80 accounts a week with it.

I bought my first walkbehind last year. Its an older model Giant Mow. Its on its second engine, but I feel that it should go for a few more years with hopefully not much more than routine maint.
