Is a 61" Z much more productive than a 52" Z to justify the extra $2K for the machine purchase? I own 52"Z but iam in the market to buy more mowers and maybe bigger. What are your findings on this topic.

Wide open lawns it is about 20% more effecient
Heavy obstacles it is probably a wash

I have a 52 and got it because thats all i could afford at the time im thinking i will run it for another season then upgrade because of my workload expanding but if you want to think of saving money in the long run i would get a 60 initally so you can take on bigger jobs with ease and not having to worry about upgrading cause your machine is too small. but the 52 will do the job but in bigger areas the 60 makes all the difference hope this helps

Another thing to consider is how much more per hour it will cost you over the life of the machine...2 grand more for a mower that might go for you 3000 hours only comes to 66 additional cents per hour. 20% greater productivity at 66 cents an hour is peanuts IMO...

52" is 2.94 acres per hour versus 3.4 acres per hour for the 60" at 7mph. This is at 80% efficiency.
Almost 1/2 acre per hour more productive.
The Exmark website has productivity info..............
