Does anyone have any thoughts about this truck.
1999 International 4700
T444 E engine
Allison 545 Auto
It has 63K Miles and is in "immaculate" condition.
I think I might be buying it.
Just under $20,000 for C&C
Life expectancy, mileage etc on that setup with a dump body

I would guess C&C means Cash and Carry price.
444E is a great engine that you should expect a long life from.
How big of dump box does it have?

C&C is Cab and chassis. I do not care much for the 444. I would look for one with the DT466. The DT466 will last forever with minimal care and you should be able to find one for that price. Around here, you can buy one like you are describing, with a dump bed on it for that amount of money. I think that price is a little high.

Sorry, I was thinking about the 466 engine with the wet-sleeved cylinders in my first reply. The 444 is a solid block design.

That truck sounds pretty light duty its around a 2.5-3 ton truck its not big power with the 444 along with a rotten automatic that sucks up 80% of the power.
If your looking for a single axle try find something with 10,000-12,000lb front axle and 21,000-23,000lb rear axle. You also want to stay away from the automatics in medium duties because they are nothing but problems.
As for engine choices you want to stick with minimum 7 litre I-6 engines like the Cat 3126 466 International.
If you are trying to find a truck with a 26,000lb gvw to stay under the CDL rule you guys have down in the states you will never get a good spec'ed truck. Either get your CDL to operate a truck with a 32-35,000lb gvw or but one and derate the gvw.
