I just bought a 23hp 52" mid mount and think its the best mower I tried.
The part that sold me is the ease of repairing it and the best ride. I tried out so many till i was sick of mowers and couldn't be more satisfied.Took it out in a cow pasture and bushhogged with it and it went through it like butter. It also came with hydro coolers which is a plus

They're pretty tough machines. A friend of mine runs 3 of them and each has over 1500 hrs.

Congrats on your purchase. The Grasshoppers seem to be rock solid and reliable performers. I think Grasshopper would sell a lot more mowers if they would do the sissy thing and give them a visual makeover. I think a lot of people dis-credit Grasshoppers at first glance and never even get close enough to them to check them out good. I bet any multi-line dealer would tell you that 9 out of 10 shoppers walk right past the Grasshopper to check out the other line of mowers they sell.

It seems to me that Grasshopper is gaining popularity and proving itself ONE customer at a time. I think they could improve that with a new color scheme and revised body work. Something flashy and less drabb.... something that jumps out and says Grasshopper.... not just another red mower.

What kind of deal were you able to get? Also did you get any accessories with it? :waving:

The problem with grasshopper is no walkbehind, they are behind the times if 1 dealer is grasshopper and 1 dealer is scag and 40 percent of your work you run a wb go figure.

7100.00, i didnt need any accessories, I consider it rather pricey but i sure like the time it knocks off cutting yards

Oh, that's not bad for a 223/52" when you look at the competition.
All commercial mowers are a bit over priced in my opinion.

I really like Grasshopper's diesel mowers.
Best thing going for the money in my opinion.
If I had everything recently done to do over again....
I think I'd really like to go for a 322D/61" or 428D/61"

We ran Husqvarna 61's up until this year. We just picked up 3 227/61's earlier this week and I, for one, am very happy with this decision. Husqvarna mowers dont have anything on these grasshoppers. I agree that their scheme is kind of ho-hum but once you get on one you will recognize them out of a crowd of bright colored mowers time after time. I too, think they offer the best ride and cut of any ztr i've demo'd. I was sceptical at first but im sold now!

mine outcuts all my neighbors ztr's including my the one across the street who has a snapper commercial ztr 61" and mine does a much better cut

Yeah, ho-hum was the term I was looking for. They have a great little logo with that Super Hero Grasshopper thingy. Maybe a black and medium lime green color scheme. Something to help catch the attention of others unlike those of us here in this thread.

That 22hp diesel runs like an SOB if you "tune" on it a bit. My GH dealer and I have them running better than a 928D. There really isn't much to tune on the 28. You can do one hellofa burnout on pavement!

PLM-1,

That's good to know. Someday I might need to ask you for those "tuning" specs.
Basically, I passed on Grasshopper last time around because...

1- I was 'leary' of the 321D/61" and the 322D/61" was not out yet.
2- I didn't want to go the extra for the 428D/61" which was several thousand more and not in stock.
3- The other chioce was a 225/61" which I was also 'leary' of.
4- Nobody could show me a mulch kit.

Edit: I also never really caught on to the "in frame suspension seat" and I got soaked when I sat on the Cordura.

The 321D is a real pu$$y of an engine compared to 1 more hp on the 22

The mulch kit is really nice. Fully baffled. I haven't installed mine. I just got it.

One thing i like about the 400 and the 900s are the larger frame. If you put them side by side they look much larger than the 300 or 700.

Yeah, I heard the 22hp has a LOAD more torque and usable working power.

Good to know about the mulch kit. It sounds like a winner. Keep me informed.

As far as the 400 & 900 frames.... never seen either in the flesh.

The other thing i forgot to mention was that the top speed of these mowers are VERY conservative. Before any tuning one of my sheriff buddies lasered me at 13mph with the pto engaged going uphill in modest growth. The specs show top speed of either 9.5 or 10.5. Gonna have him check it now that its got more balls!

I've considered the diesel mower but would like someone to tell me how it is a 22 hp diesel would be better than say a 27 hp diesel on an Exmark. Am I right that Grasshopper only offers a 22 hp diesel.

Grasshopper has a 28hp diesel as well. 928D frontmount and 428D midmount.

The diesels on the Grasshoppers are also Kubota engines.

The diesels on other brands like eXmark are not.
