Middle Tennessee: Question on advertising

I've been advertising in the local paper and passing out fliers for about a month now. I have bid three landscaping jobs and gotten two of them, but so far no response for lawm mowing. I would like to get at least ten accounts, this being my first year. Is it just too early, or do I need to do something different?

My 1st season, I also advertised the same way you are now. One other thing that I did was go to businesses around town. I asked to speak to the person in charge of the property management and told them why I was there and what I wanted to do. You'll be surprised at your success rate by showing up in person. Most of these people have been meaning to call around for a lawn service but have just been putting it off for one reason or another.
