I was just curious what you would charge to mow a football field, which measurements including endzones and sidelines is 120 yards x 70 yards? I figure I will have to do about 15 minutes of trimming and blowing off of a sidewalk which sits behind it. Seems like it will be a nice job with my 48".

I'll say $90. If it was just the mowing, no trimming and blowing, $75. If it is being mowed every five days, maybe somewhere in between.

just a suggestion but if the field belongs to a high school or middle school. You might want to concider doing it for free or cheap for the PR benifiets. A lot of people help out with school sports local businesses ect. Getting in with that crowd can be very advantages to your business.

That is about 1.7 arc so I would say about $60 -$80 you ought to be ok. I just took your figures times 3 to sq.ft. and $35 per arc=$60 have fun making stripes 10 yards wide in between each 10 yard line.

I was thinking the same thing Stone, I just wasn't going to be as harsh about it as you, the guy is new to the forum, although he is a business man.
I would consider some kind of discount on an already inflated price, like every other business does, but for godsake, DON"T SAY THE "F" WORD! Good luck with whatever you do.

I don't have any experience with football feilds, but wouldn't they want more than just mowing? You know it IS a foot ball feild! They will probably want aeration and fertilizing and other services. So, it might have potential....

i have 60 inch Dixie Chopper that i could cut a football field in about 30 minutes. so i could do it for about $50-60. But your using a 48 so i am assuming your walking it?? There cant be a whole lot of trimming unless you have a fence all the way around it.

It may be commercial lawn care but it worked damn good for me. I was just starting out years ago & our football team was doing great(made it to the semi's) I offered the AD & superintendant to manicure the field for free for the football season only...it looked terrible, school was mowing with a cub cadet & a 955 deere.
well anyway I was asked by the super what it would take to mow the whole school (25 acres). he thought the field looked great. i have mowed the whole school since 96, get paid 12 months of the year & have a spending account to treat the grounds & fields any way I see fit, I also aerate the fields too.
It has been a great PR for me cuz I do do it a little cheaper than I should but get lots compliments & alot of jobs from it.
this year the first 8 man championship football game in IOWA was played on it, we won & it will be here next year also, we still would have had the game on it even if we were not in the game.
I am not from some big city with bunches of tax money to support a school. We have 300 kids in the whole school, as you may have figured out going to 8 man football so i have to do what is best for the whole thing.
just my 2 cents thanks

Since I grew up near a small town in South Dakota, but now live one of the biggest cities, I have seen both sides of this situation. Small town midwest people are a lot different than the big city people in a lot of ways. I think all this traffic around here gets them up tight. :)
If I had business in my old home town, I would probably take care of lawn part of the city park if they furnished the supplies I would need. Around here the city has their employees do this work. You have to drive a stake next to them to see if they are moving, which is another subject that I won't go into. If I volunteered to do a city park here, I would put about 10 city guys out of a job that I could replace by doing it by myself. :D
