That said, I really have a beef with any company that sells a top of the line machine that intentionally has inferior parts in it. MY 21 I got one and half yrs out of the plastic rear end, thank God a new one was only $85 and two hrs to replace. My 26 has the same drive belt as the 21 and only lasts about three months before it goes bad. Exmark has put several other parts into the design that appear to be there just as wear out parts. I could go on but I just like to know why would they put in cheap parts that they overcharge for. We pay a premium price for these machines and expect premium quality throughout. I am hoping that the exmark or rep is going to read this. Ps.. why Don't they have sections available somewhere on how to replace things such as belts etc:

I know everyone opinion on success is different but the owners with crews and o this full time.... If you had a opportunity to pay your house off in 2 yrs that you owe 80k on or invest that extra money in your business and buy extra equipment and just continue to pay your house note which would you do? go debt free of keep buying equiptment advertising and try an grow. and why would you do what you would do? appreciate all responses. I am a solo operation and do want to grow i own 2 businesses but do not make a ton of maney at each. i can either build now or pay off and build later. the only prob i see is if i pay off in 2 yrs my wife's vehicle will be up for a new one and so will mine as we put a ton of miles on each so im worried payment wise will be the same. any advise if you were in this postion? so what would you do if you were me? thanks a ton

Hey everyone!

I figure this is a shot in the dark trying to get help this late on a Friday night, but we have one more day to finish this route before Memorial day. We had some massive storms here Tuesday and could not work Tuesday and Wednesday so the maintenance crew is SIGNIFICANTLY behind.

Short Story -
Been having issues with batteries. Bought the mower (52" Turf Tracer w/ 23hp Kawi w/ 900 hrs) ran great for a year, then started slowing starting.

Replaced one battery. Ran good for a while and did the same.
Replaced another but the tie down wasn't on and it fell backwards on the bolt and poked a hole in it and acid drained out. Not too long later it would not hold a charge

Replaced battery again and this time nothing happened but no more than a few months later its dead to. I starting to think (DUH!) that it seems like the charging system isn't working.

Ended up in a pinch and just replaced another battery which worked for not even a month and is going dead again. It was to the point where we had to leave the mower running nearly all day because as soon as you cut it off it will not restart.

Today foreman tells me that it won't even stay running and the when PTO is engaged it dies. He just got back to the shop about an hour ago and I have been doing some tests.

- I jumped it off and while running it has 13-14v with the throttle low, maybe 25% but it you turn the throttle up it jumps to nearly 20v?? Not normal right?
- When I turned it off the battery had around 12-13v
- 20 min later it dropped to 8v.
- Voltage is constant to all hot points of contact.
- Cleaned the whole frame and checked all the grounds. Connections are good and tight and clean.

Its baffling to me because it appears as though the mower is trying to charge the battery but is doing it at a voltage higher than normal. I am about out of options and unfortunately we do not have another back up mower of that size.

If anyone is up having a beer like I am and has any ideas it would be much appreciated. It would be great to have this thing rolling by morning before my guys show up. It would seem whatever it is has to be relatively simple.

Thanks fellas!

Seems to start and run good till you turn the blades on and try to cut grass. at first it was just going up hills and cutting it would bog down and not climb. And now it bogs down with the little bit of grass. I checked the plugs which were very corroded. So I replaced them and did an oil change along with air filters. I also did a compression check and it comes up with around 100lbs. which seems low to me. Not sure what it's supposed to be. I also noticed oil in the carb. This has me kinda worried. Any ideas?? Please help

I have added several multi-acre properties recently to our client list. Currently we use a 600 gallon sprayer truck and do liquid fert, weed and insect control sprayed at 3 gallons minute per k.

My question is: is anyone in Florida using a ride-on sprayer on St Augustine turf and getting/ keeping control of chinchbugs using the lower volume (1gal/k or less) that these machines usually put out. I know a golf course type sprayer would be best for the higher volume, but i dont think it would be nearly as manuverable which would kill the efficiency.

I currently spray a combo of bifenthrin and imidacloprid for chinch bug control and my guess is the systemic qualities of the imidacloprid would be ok at the lower volumes but im not so sure about the bifenthrin.

Im also not worried about the weed control with a rideon. In fact it will probably be better with lower volume.

Anybody with experience, pros or cons?
