Hey, kenny like i posted in the thread spring time isnt ideal for seeding turf, but most people do it. Do you have an agreement with any salesmen with your fert/crabgrass products? Where do you get your products? Im asking because if you dont have any licensed agreement, scotts has a product that allows you to put down a pre emerge and still be able to seed at the same time. Normally you can not do this because the pre emerge creates a barrier on the soil surface that doesn't allow crabgrass or any grass to grow. So if you dont have an agreement with anyone try that, you can kill 2 birds with one stone. When it comes to the crabgrass good rule of thumb like I have said is put down your crabgrass control when the forsythia blooms. Crabgrass needs 3 days or more 50 degree soil temps to germinate. That machine is a dethatcher/seeder combo right? Now whenever you put the crabgrass pre emerge down water it in right after your done and makesure that you run that dethatcher first with the seed. Once your seed is down if their are any really bare spots that need attention throw some penn mulch are fine mulch down over those areas. The mulch will retain moisture and heat to allow the seed to germinate quicker. What type of seed are you putting down? Just asking, but why are deciding not to put pre emerge down?
