      Have them sign a no compete clause stating they can't come back into business and take them back. Make sure it's all written out describing how many accounts and for how much you are giving him so there actually a record of it. Also I'm not sure how much you are paying him but I wouldn't pay more than 25k for them. Try to do a payment plan if you can. Like half down and then the rest over 3 months or something like that. I've bought accounts a few times actually and every time I had the company make sure to write the customers a letter stating that you are friends or family and would be taking over for them. Customers are a lot more likely to stay with you when they feel like you are somebody close to them. It makes them feel much more secure. Also if they currently have them under contract that helps too to ensure that they won't up and leave as soon as you take over.
