Your post hit a forum that is not very widely used. That's why you didn't get a lot of response. The folks on this site are always helpful.

You want to use only annual ryegrass seed. Any local supplier will have it.

Planting the sod on top of it late enough in the spring that it is constantly over 85 degrees will work. If you want to plant sod ab it earlier, you might want to hasten the demise of the ryegrass with round up a couple of weeks before.
