I used to do freeebie stuff to attract customers. Then I learned that when I give freebies, the only customers I attract are the ones who like freebies!
So now I don't offer any 'hooks' of that nature. Too expensive and I'm left with people who will leave you for the next guy offering a freebie.
I think it's more important to think outside the box when you're trying to market. Do something unexpected. It doesn't have to be big, it doesn't have to be expensive. Trucks with big plastic guys mowing grass on the top of the cabs. Chrome-plated trucks (saw this at the olympics several years ago - very distinctive look) with logo. Make people remember you.
