Much more work to run it over the lawn twice on a narrow path. Your price will have to be much higher than merely seeding, even with some savings on seed.
Lawn really should be run over to dethatch it first or thatch buildup in spots will block seed from getting down
Lawn really should be aerated also anyway.
seeder can do more damage to an otherwise nice existing lawn.
Hard to use on hills and uneven terrain unless self-propelled model.
Little depressions will get skipped by reels and seed will just lay on top of ground
Sharp crests in lawn can get dug up pretty good.
I reserve it for situations where lawn HAS to be done right and conditions for aerating/seeding alone are poor, such as here we had watering restrictions so power seeding helped more of it survive with minimal water. And of course the customer should be educated about the advantages and disadvantages. If you send out quotes w/o explaining it you'll wind up not getting most of them and pissing off the customers who find their lawn more torn up than by aerating.
