I had no idea ticks were a problem associated with lawns and cities. Living in a wilderness area we have grown fairly used to the little bastards. I've picked off up to 6 in one day during a heavy year. We have learned to swab the area with alcohol after pulling them off to kill anything left in there. Stings. Some friends of mine who work in the bush put flea & tick collars around their ankles, outside their pant legs like bicycle guards. This, they claim prevents them crawling up.
But broad spectrum poisoning for them??? Oy.
