We have our soils tested for the amount of fines, etc. Then its just sand base and the bottom boulder is buried. The fabric is wrapped behind and under to keep erosion from happening.
We had 5" of rain at our site last Friday. Half the site drained to our wall and the silt fence/erosion control guy wasn't there to put a fence behind our wall. It eroded then blew out the top half of the wall that I just finished so I'm in the process of rebuilding a 50x14' section and using longer geo-grid and about 160 tons of sand for just that 50' portion. This site is horrendous for the back fill soil.
And as for the base by the ponds. There are 2 to 3 boulders buried underground.
