Repsonses from the paper ads are spotty. It's weird, I may not get any calls at all for a week or 2 and then I'll get 3 calls in a half hour. The main thing I've learned is because the paper is distributed to a much larger area than I service, I specifically list the 3 or 4 towns that I service in my adds. Otherwise I get calls from all over the place.
My best source of new work has been referrals and from people new to the area finding my business listing on the internet. When people buy a new home they often have a long list of service providers to line up, so all you have to do is be respsonsive and you get the work....they don't have time to price shop among a half dozen landscapers the way some people do.
