amendments depends on budget. Rule of thumb I've been taught is amend 25% by volume of root zone. 6'' root zone needs 1.5'' compost amendment. I would cut out amendment and sod the field before amending and seeding, you can always grow nice turf with proper care. If the budget is really big, you need to look into some serious subsurface drainage
