I'm going to be planting some trees in my backyard this fall and am wondering if there are any drawbacks to planting the largest specimens I can afford. Money isn't an issue. I'm just wondering if a 2ft tree will establish its root system and usually grow into a more impressive specimen than an 8ft tree would.

I'm going to be planting smaller trees like a Fat Albert Blue Spruce, Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry, Crimson Queen Japanese Maples, a President Lincoln Lilac Tree and a Seated Dwarf. Any input would be appreciated!
