It cuts "OK", but to say that I get a lot of blow out would be an understatement! When I get off the mower I am filthy! Its pretty bad! I have tried the adjustable baffle in every possiton to no avail! Took it to my dealer just 2 weeks ago and he readjusted the deck to "factory specifications" and the darn thing still blows out the front of the deck! So, I am selling it to a guy this weekend and I am going to buy another mower next week. I can't make up my mind...should I get the gravely 452 or the deere z920a? I am going to try and set up demos early next week, but neither gravely or deere have the exact machine I want to buy for demo, so I really don't know what to do. I guess my first question would be...is there much/any blow out with the GPT 452 and how would you guys compare the 452 vs velocity plus vs 7iron? Ive got to get the right mower this time or my wife is gonna to divorce me!haha Thanks guys!
I run my Gravely 452(X-Factor Deck) side by side with my Scag(Velocity Deck). Both decks cut amazing in almost all conditions. Honestly the x-factor cuts a little better in dry conditions and the velocity cuts a little better in wet conditions. The x-factor leaves smaller clippings creating a carpet like finish. The velocity has bigger clippings but can make even weed infested lawns look good.
As far as the 452 goes the machine is the best riding in my opinion. The comfort is not matched in the industry. Gravely built this thing like a tank. The frame and front end are massive. It really is industrial strength.
In my signature section I have a link to my work. You can see some good cut quality pics there. Also check out my video of the 452 in action. Also a good look at cut quality.
