Under normal diagnosis thats the first thing to check but if you disconnect that two wire plug and check that it should be putting out over 26 vAC. That two pronged wire is what comes right from the stator, goes through the regulator and brings the voltage to 14 vDC or there about.
As I am typing this there may be one wire I forgot to connect and will check that later. It comes from somewhere up front near the ignition coils and goes back to the solenoid I believe.
