Fertilizing too often and too early, as part of a bridge pogram is also counter productive, in that it grows living thatch...

organic fertilizers are not so touchy about being "too early" becuz they won't do much until the soil warms up anyways... then it tends to feed a microbrial system that builds a structure bringing the nutrients deeper into the soil profile... just the OPPOSITE of thatch...
Now that I know that clay's texture(platelets) has nothing to do with water infiltration, percolation, or drainage
,,, I wonder what does...
