Especially with the late start. A lot could die in the summer heat, since it won't have much time to develop a root system. I'd set the expectation for an overseed in the fall, at a minimum. IMO worrying about rows of grass from a slit seeder is the last concern... worrying about them not being able to water 80,000 sq ft and everything dying is the elephant in the room.
