I seriously can't believe how Bobcat quality control engineers can allow such poor quality steel and poor manufacturing techniques to be used in their attachments, let alone their skid steer loaders and excavators, this isn't the first dumping hopper I've seen with a twisted axle.
Absolute CRAP design on the Bobcat Dumping Hopper, if you let the axle on the fully loaded hopper drop into a hole or cross a trench, any 65+ hp CTL skid steer will push and or pull the axle and twist it, then as the hopper is in the travel position, (most likely high enough to keep the belly from dragging) the weight is OVER the spindles, putting even more stress on the 1/4" thick welded steel.
And you know damn well when you have a bent axle, your skid steer has to push even harder as the wheel(s) rub on the hopper and after a few hundred feet, you smell the rubber.
This was just 2 days into the 5 days we had it on the job, we actually pulled the axle with the excavator just to keep the wheels from rubbing, the 277C would NOT turn it through a gentle curve when it was loaded.
And how it was fixed:
The 289C2 pushed it around like it wasn't even there.
Makes me happy I'm not in a Bobcat anymore.
