Don't just walk away from them... do this. PITA customers will account for 1-2 percent of your business. Identify them as quickly as possible and then politely recommend them to your competition.
And the "new to you" customers.... spend some time finding out why they came to you. Alarms should go off when they tell you they have had 5 different companies in the last 4 years.
