To be honest, I don't think it's going to make any difference at all. every lightning strike I've dealt with, the damage has come from the field side, not the primary power side. The controller/transformer actually protects the house wiring from the strike, that's why you'll see them launched across the room with smoke on the outside of the plug instead of a melted plug and all kinds of electrical damage in the house. If the strike were on the primary side, you'd either see blown power company transformers, serious breaker box damage or a burned down house.
Kinda what I told the customer. He still wanted it as the strike went into the barn and took out the wire and outet that clock was plugged in to.
