No......it's fine. Just service it regularly/more often.
Obviously, the "Donaldson" canister type has a lot more surface area and usually has a better sealing surface than the other types ( plus it mounts a little higher, outta the dust), but unless the unit came equipped with one, or you order one for it when new, there's not much you can do about it now.
