I can't argue with that. 90% of the people writing about FB Pages for business are likely social media consultants. Makes sense. They want to come up in Google when someone searches on that topic. So I don't think you'll see many use cases arguing AGAINST it, but I think you can look at the best recommendations of how to use it and see if those will actually work for you.

You need to look at ANY social media marketing as an online version of in-person networking. When I'm coaching people on networking I tell them to do two things: be interested (in the other person) and be interesting. Same thing on FB. A sales call to action is boring. Show your followers that you're interested in them by posting stuff that they will find interesting and relevant.

And be prepared for the randomness of the internet. My most shared posts have surprised me, but the bump in followers I get after those posts is from people who saw me on a friend's timeline and want to see what I do next. THOSE are the fans you want.
